AAUW NEMCO Branch Programs 2022-2023

*** We have planned some “in person” and some “virtual” activities. “In person” events may be changed to “virtual” events on Zoom, due to changes in CDC guidelines regarding COVID infections. ***

September 14, Wednesday, 6pm NEMCO Annual Banquet and General Membership Meeting at Gwynedd Estate’s Leaf Side Dining Room. We will celebrate our 77th year as a branch with a presentation by Maria Collett, PA State Senator from the Twelfth District representing parts of Bucks and Montgomery Counties. Come and enjoy a delicious dinner with good company and interesting presentations $40. 

October Fundraiser for our Student Award Fund. Georgia Pecans from the Schermer Pecan Company. Our sale of half pecans $12 and chocolate covered pecans $10 will be delivered in time for the holidays! These make perfect gifts as well as baking ingredients for baking.

October 11, Tuesday, in person, 5:30pm International Day of the Girl Child an annual international observance that the UN began in 2012. We will continue our discussion and action plan of how we can support more opportunities for girls, and how we can increase awareness of gender inequality faced by girls, worldwide, based on their gender. We will enjoy wine, cheese, finger foods and dessert. 

November 8 Election Day!  Mid-term elections are important!

November 8, 11 am, Justice Bell presentation in person at the Upper Dublin Public Library. The story of the Suffragette use of the Justice Bell as a symbol of the fight for Women’s Rights. Please join us for this fascinating presentation and video. Optional lunch to follow. 

November delivery of Pecans, before Thanksgiving.

December 7, Wednesday, 12 noon Holiday Celebration at the Historic Joseph Amber Inn in North Wales. Come and celebrate the holidays with your friends from NEMCO and enjoy a delicious lunch at this historic inn, $35 per person includes salad, entrée, dessert, tea, or coffee.

January 11, Wednesday, 11am, virtual, The Roles of Women in Ancient Egypt presented by Stephen R. Phillips of the Penn Museum. Dr Phillips has presented wonderful topics in the past. This presentation promises to be just as fascinating. 

February Black History Virtual Program TBD

February 8, Wednesday, 11am Virtual visit to the Museum of the American Revolution. The topic will be revolutionary flags and their history with art by Don Troiani. This presentation promises to be fascinating as other virtual presentations at the Museum have been! 

March 8, Wednesday, 11 am, in person, enjoy a tour of Woodmere Museum, 9201 Germantown Ave in Chestnut Hill. This program is a Student Award Fundraiser, $15. Optional lunch to follow. 

Spring date TBD for Luna Fest celebrating women in movies: writers, producers and actors. 

April 16, Sunday, 3pm, come join us for “To Music” an afternoon of amazing choral performances by the Montgomery County Chorale and Orchestra.. This event takes place at the Upper Dublin High School Performing Arts Center, 800 Loch Alsh Avenue, Fort Washington, PA 19034. Tickets $20.

May 10, 11am Guided/Cooking Tour of Moland House, 1641 York Rd, Warminster. Further details TBD.

June 14, Wednesday, 12 noon, in person. Our annual Picnic and Spring General Meeting, including the swearing in of new officers at a member’s home.
