AAUW NEMCO Branch Programs 2021-2022

September 15, Wednesday, 6pm, in person. NEMCO Annual Banquet and Fall General Membership Meeting at Old York Road Country Club. We will celebrate our 76th year as a branch with Historical Presentations by NEMCO members about our branch and mission accomplishments. Come and enjoy a delicious dinner, with good company and interesting presentations. 

October 11, Monday, 7pm, in person. International Day of the Girl Child an annual international observance that the UN began in 2012. We will continue our discussion and action plan of how we can support more opportunities for girls and how we can increase awareness of gender inequality faced by girls, worldwide, based on their gender. We will enjoy wine, cheese, finger foods and dessert.

November 2, Tuesday, Election Day!  Mid-term elections are important!

November 9, Tuesday, 11am. Virtual visit to the Museum of the American Revolution. The topic will be “When Women lost the Vote, a Revolutionary story 1776- 1807”. This presentation promises to be fantastic as other virtual presentations at the Museum have been! 

December 9, Thursday, 12 noon, in person. Holiday Celebration at the Historic Joseph Amber Inn in North Wales. Come and celebrate the holidays with your friends from NEMCO and enjoy a delicious lunch at this historic Inn, $35 per person includes salad, entrée, dessert, tea, or coffee. 

January 12, Wednesday, 11am, virtual. Inside the Painted Caves of Southwest France presented by Stephen R. Phillips, PhD, Penn Museum. 

February 9, Wednesday, 11am, in person. Come and celebrate Black History Month with a visit to the historic Belmont Mansion, site of a Civil War underground railroad, $5. Optional lunch to follow. 

February 23, Wednesday, 7pm. AAUW Virtual Program on Diversity.

March 9, Wednesday, 11am, in person. Enjoy a tour of Penn’s Archeological Museum Philadelphia opposite the 15th Street train station, optional lunch to follow. 

Spring 2022, Saturday, 8am-1pm Philadelphia Girls Enjoying Science (PAGES), bi-annual Mini-conference for high school girls. Their goal is to increase girls’ interest in Science and Math. They need volunteers to help chaperone and guide the girls from activity to activity, no training needed, at Chestnut Hill College, Covid vaccines and clearances are required. 

Spring date TBD for Luna Fest celebrating women in movies: writers, producers, and actors. 

April 13, Wednesday, 11 am, in person. Visit to Langhorne Carpet Factory Tour, 201 W Lincoln Highway, Penndel, PA 19047, optional lunch to follow. 

May 18, Wednesday, 11am, in person. Guided Tours of Chanticleer Gardens and Mansion. Chanticleer is called the most romantic garden in America. The mansion is the former home of the Rosengarten’s. The cost is $10 per person. Carpooling is encouraged due to parking limitations. Optional lunch to follow.

June 9, Thursday, 11am, in person. Come join us for a tour of Peace Valley Lavender Farm in Doylestown PA. This trip will coincide with the Lavender blooming. There is a gift shop, we will have an optional lunch nearby. 

June 15, Wednesday, 12 noon, in person. Our annual Picnic and Spring General Meeting including the swearing in of new officers at a member’s home.
